The eighth annual Sparkcon brought chalk drawings to Hargett and Fayetteville Streets this weekend.

The art and design festival is produced by the nonprofit Visual Art Exchange and includes many different types of "sparks" such as art, dance, music, ideas, geekery, theater, circus and more.

Annabel Synder, 7, of Raleigh rolled in the chalk to complete her creation. Samanta Chiuminatto, 4, of Cary concentrates on her name. The used chalk creates the most beautiful manhole cover at the center of the intersection of Hargett and Fayetteville Streets.
